What the work involves.
Most roofs that need attention do not need replacing. A roof with a sound deck and shingles that still have life in them can usually be put right by fixing the part that failed, and in North Texas the part that fails is predictable. Wind lifts and tears shingles along the edges and ridges. Pipe boots crack in the sun. Flashing pulls away where the roof meets a wall or a chimney. Sealant around vents dries out. Each of those lets water in at one spot while the rest of the roof is fine.
From leaks to shingle damage, we handle all types of roof repairs. The first job is finding where the water is coming in, which is often not where the stain on the ceiling is. Water runs along the decking and down rafters before it drips, so a ceiling spot in the hallway can start at a vent six feet uphill. The repair only holds if it is made at the source.

The Difference
The parts you do not see.
Missing and creased shingles get replaced with a matching or closest-available shingle, sealed down and nailed in the right place so the next wind does not take them again. Cracked pipe boots get new boots. Loose step and counter flashing gets re-set or replaced, because a bead of caulk smeared over old flashing buys a season at most. Exposed nail heads get sealed. Where a valley has been leaking, the damaged shingles and underlayment in the valley come out so the leak barrier underneath can be checked.
Sometimes a repair turns up something bigger. Decking that has been wet long enough to go soft, shingles that crumble when they are lifted, or storm bruising across several slopes all mean a patch would be money spent twice. When that is what we find, we tell you plainly and show you what we saw, and if a storm caused it we talk about whether an insurance claim makes sense before any more work is done.
A small repair on an accessible roof is often priced in the low hundreds of dollars, while flashing work around a chimney, a valley rebuild or repairs on a steep two-story roof cost more. The price depends on what failed, how much has to come apart to reach it and how easy the roof is to work on. You get the number after the inspection and before anything starts.
If water is coming in right now, put a bucket under it, move anything valuable out of the way and, if the ceiling is bulging, poke a small hole in the center of the bulge so the water drains into the bucket instead of bringing the drywall down. Can you repair a roof instead of replacing it?
Often, yes. If the decking is sound and the shingles still have life in them, fixing the part that failed is the right call. We only recommend replacement when a repair would not last.

Can you match my existing shingles?
We match as closely as the market allows. Colors and product lines get discontinued, so an older roof may take a close match rather than an exact one. We will show you the options before anything goes on.
Will a repair be covered by insurance?
If a recent storm caused the damage, it may be. Normal wear and old leaks are not covered. We will tell you what we found so you can decide whether it is worth calling your carrier.
